BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–Two people have been charged in connection to the New Year’s Eve stabbing of Earnest Christion Jr., according to BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
On Dec. 31 at around 7 p.m., police responded to the 2500 block of 15th Street Ensley where they found Christion, 68, unresponsive.
He was transported by Birmingham Fire & Rescue to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
60-year-old Zingy Gamble, Christion’s girlfriend, has been charged with his murder.
BPD detectives believe Zingy stabbed him possibly during a dispute over money.
La Verne Gamble, Zingy’s son, has been charged with first-degree hindering prosecution.
Both suspects are in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
Zingy is being held without bond while La Verne has a bond amount of $15,000.
