JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala.—The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is investigating three suspected cases of hypothermia deaths over the last 24 hours alone.
All three cases are pending additional lab studies and are 6-8 weeks from an official cause of death being listed.
The coroner’s office stated no other information regarding the cases will be released until an official cause of death is available.
The City of Birmingham and Jimmie Hale Mission opened its nightly warming station this week from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Those needing warm shelter can go to the mission, located at 3420 2nd Ave North. Food will be provided.
