From Tribune staff reports
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is reporting that portions of Interstate 20 and Interstate 65 have reopened to traffic, though travelers are still cautioned of slush and ice in some areas.
On I-20, one eastbound lane near Moody and all westbound lanes near Pell City have reopened.
In Shelby County, the southbound lanes of I-65 are now clear for traffic, however the roads are still icy.
ALEA continues to receive widespread reports of stranded motorists across the region, and residents are advised not to drive unless absolutely necessary.
The Alabama Department of Transportation will treat major interstates throughout the day.
This is a developing story.
