BIRMINGHAM — Roads across north Alabama, including Jefferson, St. Clair and Shelby counties, continue to pose hazards for drives headed into Saturday morning, according to Senior Trooper Vu Quang of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency
The ALEA Birmingham Post reported the following:
Jefferson County – Roadways are covered with ice and snow.
St. Clair County – Roadways are covered with ice and snow.
Shelby County – Roadways are covered with ice and snow.
Calhoun County – Per Calhoun County EMA all city roadways in the County are closed. Roadways are covered with ice and snow. Jacksonville City Roads are impassable. Alabama 77 to Alabama 144 from Etowah County Line is iced over.
Clay County – Roadways are covered with ice and snow.
Cleburne County – Roadways are covered with ice and snow.
Randolph County – Roadways are covered with ice and snow.
Talladega County – Childersburg City has closed all city roads. U.S. 280 near Merkel Mtn. is near impassible per Talladega County. Roadways are covered with ice and snow.
Please use extreme caution when driving in winter weather as well as on icy roadways. ALEA Troopers will continue to monitor roadway conditions and provide updates accordingly.
