Morning Snow: Parts of North Alabama saw a little snow and wintry mix stick to the ground this morning. Accumulations were light, there were no major travel issues, and most if not all of what fell will be gone this afternoon. It did make for a pretty start to the day in places like Cullman, Hamilton, and Double Springs though!
Wednesday: The rain is already moving out now and chilly and cloudy weather continues through the rest of the day.
Wednesday afternoon will be cloudy with lingering flurries for Central Alabama as the rain moves east. It will be breezy with temperatures falling into the 30s.
Wednesday Night & Thursday: The Arctic Blast arrives Wednesday night. This will bring low temperatures in the teens and a wind chill of 5-10 degrees. There could be icy spots on roads across Alabama if the wind does not dry them out on Wednesday night. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for the wind chill in the single digits across Central Alabama.
Thursday will be a blustery day with sunshine. High pressure will be northwest of Alabama sending down the Arctic Air. High temperatures will be in the lower to middle 30s and a wind chill in the 20s. It is possible that many areas of Central and Northern Alabama will not get above freezing for more than 24 hours. This is pipe-bursting cold. Protect pipes, blooming plants, pets, and people. Thursday night will be clear and frigid with lows in the teens. The wind chill will be around 10 degrees.
Friday: Friday will be another frigid day with sunshine as high pressure builds across the Southeast U.S. It will be a tad warmer with high temperatures climbing into the 40s.
Weekend Outlook: High pressure will move northeast of Alabama bringing in warmer easterly winds. Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny and warmer with highs in the lower to middle 50s. Even warmer temperatures are expected next week with more sunshine.
