TRUSSVILLE — Police responded to an incident involving unruly teenagers attempting a ‘teen takeover’ at Urban Air on Saturday night, according to Trussville Police Lt. Clint Riner. TPD officers arrived to deescalate the situation and successfully executed a ‘takeback’ within a few minutes.
“On Saturday, March 7, 2026 at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to 3695 Roosevelt Blvd. Urban Air on a large group of juveniles being disorderly,” Riner said. “Officers arrived on the scene and observed several large groups of teenagers fighting inside the business. After a period of time officers were able to de-escalate the incident.”
Riner said there were no injuries and no one was arrested by Trussville Police. He also noted that Urban Air employs off-duty Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies and was not aware if they had made any arrests.
A flyer posted online indicated that the incident may have been a part of a national social media trend promoting “teen takeover” events across the country. The Urban Air in Trussville was one of several that were targeted.
“Unfortunately we got hit with one of these “Teen Takeover” events they put on social media,” Urban Air owner Marco Turner said. “They did it to our location and the Homewood location.”
In addition to Trussville and Homewood, Urban Air locations in Atlanta, as well as other businesses, were also targeted for ‘teen takeover’ events.
“Teenagers have been creating these takeover events and go to local businesses similar to ours in large numbers and ‘takeover’ most try to enter without paying and most of them are high school age without any parents or parental knowledge,” Turner said. “We did not know about it. It definitely was not something we sponsored or would allow. Our guest and staff safety is our number one priority.”
In Atlanta, police issued warnings ahead of planned takeover events and Henry County, Georgia declared a state of emergency. Urban Air appeared to be the target there, as well.
According to Fox 5 in Atlanta, “The emergency declaration, signed by Board of Commissioners Chair Carlotta Harrell, comes in response to social media chatter regarding an ‘Urban Air Takeover’ planned for the Henry Town Center shopping complex on Jonesboro Road.”
The outlet reported that previous incidents across metro Atlanta in multiple business districts had resulted in property damage, injuries, and illegal weapon use. Over two dozen people were arrested in earlier incidents.
Video posted on social media by Shae Taylor showed Trussville officers responding to the call and a brief altercation between an officer and someone inside the facility.
