TRUSSVILLE, Ala. — The City of Trussville has officially announced Michelle Hamrick as their selection for the next director of the Trussville Public Library.
According to the city, the Trussville Public Library Board of Trustees chose Hamrick for the role, bringing more than 20 years of experience in library experience, including a background in circulation, programming, administration, and leadership.
Currently, Hamrick serves as assistant director of operations at the Homewood Public Library, where she has overseen budget management, daily operations, and led departments including technology, security, and facilities.
Officials said Hamrick has led projects involving improvements to financials processes, archive modernizations efforts, and staff onboarding programs that aim to improve efficiency and strengthen operations.
Before joining Homewood, Hamrick worked at the Irondale Public Library, where she moved up from public services coordinator to associate director. Her experience there includes program development, community engagement, and technology integration.
Hamrick holds a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama and a bachelor’s in history from UAB. Hamrick was named Jefferson County Librarian of the Year in 2025.
“Michelle brings a wealth of experience, a passion for public service, and a proven ability to lead complex organizations,” Mayor Ben Short said in the announcement. “Her vision for the future of library services aligns with our commitment to providing high quality resources and opportunities for our residents. We are excited to welcome her to the Trussville community.”
Hamrick noted how she is excited for the opportunity to serve Trussville and build on the foundation already in place.
