CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A former high school girls basketball coach accused of sexual misconduct charges involving a student pleaded guilty Thursday as part of a plea agreement.
Paige Adams was sentenced to 84 months after pleading guilty to two counts of school employee sexual conduct and three counts of distributing obscene material to a student, according to court documents. The sentences will run concurrently. Under the plea agreement, Adams will serve one year in prison, followed by 36 months of probation.
Adams, who led the Cold Springs girls basketball team for one season, resigned March 25 after the Cullman County School System received a complaint about her.
Adams led the team to a 23-11 season, winning the area championship and appearing in the AHSAA Final Four. She previously coached at Holly Pond, where she, too, resigned after a sole season with the team in 2017. A 2009 graduate of Cold Springs, Adams played for the school’s basketball team for two seasons, helping the team to two state championships.
