CORDOVA, Ala. — A Birmingham woman was killed Monday afternoon following a single-vehicle collision on Interstate 22 in Walker County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
37-year-old Elaine S. Lindstrom was driving a 2025 Nissan Sentra when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a ditch, went airborne, struck a riverbank, and entered the water at around 2 p.m. Aug. 10.
According to ALEA, Lindstrom was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident took place near the 74 mile marker on I-22, around three miles southeast of Cordova.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating.
