TRUSSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama Public Television (APT) Director of Programming and Public Information was a guest speaker at a recent meeting of the Trussville Daybreak Rotary.
“Now in its 71st year, Alabama Public Television has a long history of education, information and public service,” said a press release from the club. “McKenzie shared that Alabama was a pioneer in statewide educational television, establishing a model that was eventually followed by 25 other states.”
Among topics discussed was public television in the national Emergency Alert System providing information during emergencies. He also spoke about “Paratus 14:50,” a documentary by APT on the U.S. Coast Guard’s response to Hurricane Katrina.
He gave a “a behind-the-scenes look” at the network’s work during its 71 years in existence.
The Trussville Daybreak Rotary Club meets at First Baptist Church Trussville on Wednesday at 7 a.m.
