ATMORE, Ala. — Jeremy Williams was executed by lethal injection Thursday evening for the murder of 5-year-old Kamarie Holland in 2021.
Attorney General Steve Marshall approved the execution to start at 5:53 p.m. at William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore. Williams was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m.
Williams pleaded guilty in March 2024 in Russell County Circuit Court to four counts of capital murder, alongside charges of human trafficking, production of obscene material, and abuse of a corpse.
According to the Attorney’s General Office, Williams took Holland from her mother’s house in Columbus, Georgia on Dec. 12, 2021, and brought her to Alabama, where he sexually abused and then strangled her to death.
Williams was later arrested in Phenix City. Investigators found the body soon after.
Williams later confessed to killing Holland and committing violent crimes against other children, including murdering his infant daughter in Alaska and sexually abusing others.
After being sentenced, Williams wrote several letters asking to have his appeals dropped, indicating he wanted his execution carried out.
The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals confirmed his convictions and capital punishment on March 27. On June 16, the Alabama Supreme Court authorized his execution. Gov. Kay Ivey scheduled the execution two days later.
“Justice has been served,” Marshall said.
Marshall stated that he hoped the survivors of Williams’ crimes could find some relief knowing he could no longer harm another child.
