MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Specialty license plates featuring the iconic Dolly Parton will be available to Alabamians, said a recent announcement from Gov. Kay Ivey.
Parton’s Imagination Library program received enough pre-commitments to begin producing them. The plates are expected to be ready in the next eight to 12 weeks.
Getting a plate will also benefit the Imagination Library. According to Ivey’s statement proceeds from each one will stay in the county where it is registered and will be able to provide monthly books to enrolled children.
“Dolly Parton gave us more than a book program,” said Ivey. “She gave us a mission rooted in the simple, but powerful belief that every child deserves the opportunity to read, learn and dream. Alabama is honored to be part of that legacy, and we will continue putting books into the hands and homes of our children.”
