Virginia Loftin Phillips (September 29, 1930 — August 28, 2026)
Virginia L. Phillips went home to be with her Lord on September 28, 2026. Preceded in death by her husband Carl W.E. Phillips, married for 67 years, sons Earl and Timothy Phillips, and her father and mother TJ and Turci Loftin, sister Reba Brown and her brothers Herschel and Erskin Lofton. She is survived by her son Norman R. Phillips (Charlotte), her daughter-in-law Donna Phillips, granddaughters Ashley Johnson (Phillip), Denise Merritt (Tony), Wendy Phillips and Grandson Donald Phillips, (Angel) 4 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was a long-time active member of McElwain Baptist Church. She loved decorating the church for special occasions. She loved working in her yard, especially her rose garden. Her favorite hobby was ceramics. She taught ceramics classes at McElwain for several years. She worked for D&G Electric for several years and then went to work for Southern Living selling house plans which she really enjoyed.
Visitation will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., short service to follow. Grave side service for family at Jefferson Memorial.
