BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Birmingham’s coffee community will come together Saturday, Sept. 26, for the inaugural Bham Coffee Fest, a free community event featuring local coffee shops, roasters and coffee-related vendors at Pepper Place. Admission is free.
The festival will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Pepper Place Farmers Market, 2829 Second Ave. South. Funds raised through sponsorships and donations will benefit Lakeshore Foundation, a Birmingham nonprofit that has emerged as a leading voice for health promotion, research, fitness, recreation, advocacy and sports for people with physical disabilities, chronic health conditions, veterans and seniors.
“We often share many conversations over a cup of coffee — our career goals, hopes and dreams, weekend plans, relationships — the list goes on. We’ve affirmed throughout planning this event that sometimes all it takes to breathe life into a community and feel empowered to put our plans into action is coffee and conversation,” said Lakeshore Junior Board President Alex Dumais. “So, come fill up your cup in support of our local coffee community as we celebrate Lakeshore Foundation for years to come.”
Bham Coffee Fest is organized by the Lakeshore Foundation Junior Board, a volunteer group acting on behalf of Lakeshore Foundation. The event is designed to showcase Birmingham’s growing coffee culture while bringing the community together around Lakeshore’s mission of opportunity, independence and inclusion.
The festival will feature local coffee shops and roasters, along with coffee-adjacent food vendors. Participating vendors may offer espresso, drip coffee, specialty drinks, whole-bean coffee, pour-overs, pastries and baked goods.
“This event is a testament to the creativity, leadership and hard work of our Junior Board, which saw an opportunity to bring Birmingham’s coffee community together for a great cause. We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response from local coffee businesses and supporters,” said Director of Fundraising and Events, Meredith Hutcheson. “We hope Bham Coffee Fest continues to grow in the years ahead, creating new partnerships and making an even greater impact for Lakeshore Foundation.”
As a designated Olympic and Paralympic training site, Lakeshore is home to USA Wheelchair Rugby, USA Para Powerlifting and Boccia United States. The festival will highlight boccia with demonstrations and an opportunity to try one of the fastest-growing Paralympic sports.
Bham Coffee Fest’s 2026 partners include the Italian American Heritage Society of Birmingham as inaugural presenting sponsor, along with Southbound Food Festival, Pepper Place, Bham Now, Cala Coffee Co., Daysol and Royal Cup Coffee.
