CLAY, Ala. — The City of Clay’s website will move to a .gov domain starting on Oct. 1.
In an announcement on social media the City of Clay stated that the move will make it an official and verified government source. It will also reportedly offer better protection from fraud.
“It offers stronger protection against impersonation and helps safeguard the personal information you share with us online,” it said. “It reflects our ongoing commitment to serving Clay with professionalism and transparency.”
Residents are advised to clear browser caches and update bookmarks and saved links to avoid error pages.
“If you have the old site saved on your phone’s home screen, we recommend removing it and adding a shortcut to the new one instead,” the announcement said.
clayalabama.org will temporarily redirect visitors to the new site until the old domain is retired.
All city email addresses will change to .gov on October 1 as well.
