Alabama’s junior senator has seen her influence in the nation’s capital rise at an unprecedented rate during her rookie term and TIME Magazine, among others, has taken note.
On Wednesday, TIME named Sen. Katie Britt to their list of the Top 100 ‘World’s Most Influential Rising Stars’ due to her ability to bring balance to power. The article accompanying the list cited Britt’s ability to find common ground while supporting President Donald Trump’s agenda.
In a profile by Nik Popli, TIME said Britt, 44, has “quickly learned how to wield influence in Donald Trump’s Republican Party while avoiding its hardest edges.”
The magazine noted that shortly after her 2022 election as the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the Senate, then-Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell invited her to join his weekly leadership meetings as an adviser.
TIME reported that Britt has strongly backed Trump’s agenda, including his immigration policies, while privately urging the administration toward moderation at key moments.
The profile said she has carved out a policy focus on families and children, pressing Trump to protect in vitro fertilization after an Alabama court ruling, helping secure expanded childcare tax credits and working across the aisle on legislation to protect children from social media.
Popli wrote that Britt’s ability to bridge divides within the GOP while cultivating bipartisan relationships has made her “an increasingly consequential player in the Senate.”
Though not specifically mentioned in the article, her friendship with Democrat Senator John Fetterman is seen as a key catalyst in Fetterman occasionally crossing the aisle to vote for Republican legislation that he considers common sense policy.
