CENTER POINT – A teenage girl was shot in the face in a Center Point neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a 16-year-old girl was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the face at around 4:49 p.m. in the 100 block of 17th Avenue N.W. in Center Point. Deputies had responded to a call of a shooting when they happened upon the victim.
Witnesses at the scene said that a group of teens was standing in front of a residence when a car approached and proceeded to fire several rounds into the crowd. The description of the vehicle or the shooter(s) have not been released.
Authorities said that the teenage girl was transported to the hospital with what is believed to be a non-life-threatening wound.
This remains an ongoing investigation.
