BIRMINGHAM — Jefferson County Schools announced the JEFCOED/Kikstart partnership supplying meals for students will continue until school starts back for the 2020-2021 school year.
The meal service was originally set to stop on June 5, but will now continue until Aug. 25. If the start of school is delayed, the service could continue until Sept. 30.
Dr. Walter Gonsoulin, Superintendent said the goal is to keep students fed.
“From the beginning, our goal has been to provide for our students, but at the same time keep our staff safe,” Gonsoulin said. “The kickstart model is accomplishing both. Our district is forever grateful to them.”
