TRUSSVILLE –The winter weather expected in the local area has provided ever changing models and predictions. Here’s the latest from the National Weather Service. Check back often for updates.
Jefferson and St. Clair counties will be under a Winter Weather Advisory from 6 p.m. Monday until 6 p.m. Tuesday. NWS warns that this could be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning based on future models.
Most of the precipitation is expected to be south of the freeze line which roughly follows I-20. Therefore, accumulation totals on North Alabama have reduced.
Monday — A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 44. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
Monday night — A chance of rain before midnight, then freezing rain and sleet, possibly mixed with snow. Low around 31. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tuesday –Freezing rain and sleet, possibly mixed with snow before noon, then a chance of rain. High near 37. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday Night — Rain. Low around 37. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
