Frances Hammett Smith was called home by her Lord and Savior on Dec. 11, 2020 at the age of 86.
Frances was born in Altoona, AL on June 25, 1934 to Tilman Hammett and Willie Crouch Hammett. Frances is survived by her husband of 69 years Milo James Smith and their 3 children, Edson Smith (Christine), Merritt Smith and Clara Vinson (Mike); grandchildren Eric Smith (Holly), Cassie Davenport (Steven), Hannah Thomas (Aaron), Brandy Norman (Jeremy), Merritt Smith Jr, Quinton Smith, Tim Frazier (Tonya), Caleb James (Amy) and Michael Vinson; great-grandchildren Madison, Landon, Claire Grace, Dalton, James, Arianna, Mary Christine, Jasmine, Chloe, Kaylie, Carter, Ryleigh and Paisley; and her sister Patricia Hammett.
Frances was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Debra Frazier Smith; her brothers Vance, Ivan, Horace and Ray Hammett and her sisters Mildred Millwood, Lila King, and Eron Copeland.
Frances was a dedicated mother and wife but first and foremost was her love and dedication to the Lord. She studied the Bible daily for instruction, understanding and comfort. She treasured her children and family and embraced every moment with them.
Frances was very talented. She loved to paint, sew, quilt, can food and was always willing to teach others. Frances loved people and made friends everywhere, she will be dearly missed by many friends and loved ones.
A celebration of her life will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, AL Dec. 18, 2020. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. and burial at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Pinson, AL.
