CLAY — The National Weather Service in Birmingham reports trees and power lines are down in east Alabama after strong winds moved through central Alabama Tuesday.
Center Point Fire and Rescue Chief Gene Coleman said crews are working to clear several roadways in Clay and Center Point. Coleman said people need to avoid the following areas:
6400 block of Clay-Palmerdale Road, Clay
6100 block of Clay-Palmerdale Road, Clay
7400 block of Mack Hicks Road, unincorporated Jefferson County
6400 block of Red Hollow Road, Pinson
400 block of 23rd Avenue Northwest, Center Point
Power outages have been reported in some areas. Coleman said it’s important to be cautious when using candles. As always, he said, “Keep a beep where you sleep and close the door where you snore, and we still make house calls!”
No injuries have been reported.
