MOODY – At a brief meeting at City Hall on Monday, March 28 the Moody City Council approved payment for the relocation of a water line on Kelly Creek Road South for road improvements.
The payment was made to Leeds Water, which will be tasked with relocating the water line on Kelly Creek Road South in front of Valero Gas for improvements taking place along the road from the intersection of Highway 78 and Kelly Creek Road to the bridge at I-20.
The total cost is $25,647.90 to be split with St. Claire County. The city will pay $12,049.70 with money from the Reserve Road Improvement Fund.
Another action that the council took was to approve the voting delegates for the Alabama League of Municipalities Annual Business Meeting to take place on May 12. The voting delegate was Mayor Joe Lee, with the first alternate being Mayor Pro-Tem Linda Crowe and the second alternate being Councilman Lynn Taylor.
In other business, the council:
- Approved Parks and Recreation Director Mike Staggs’ request to purchase a new American flag, rope, and hardware for the park for $1076.59,
- Approved Police Chief Thomas Hunt’s request for Unit 351 front tires for $298.50,
- Approved Hunt’s request for Unit 343 new tires for $616,
- Approved Hunt’s request for him to attend the to attend the Chief’s summer conference in Orange Beach in August 2022 for $1,800,
- Approved Hunt’s request to advertise and hire to replace a police officer that recently resigned,
- Approved Fire Chief Larry Horton’s request to purchase a pallet of Blu Def for $650,
- Approved Horton’s request to purchase six tires for E-1 for $4,000,
- Approved Horton’s request to have the rear brakes repaired on E-1 for $4,800,
- Approved Horton’s request to have preventive service done on Car-2 due to being over 100,000 miles for $550.00,
- Approved Horton’s request to have fire extinguishers serviced and/or repaired $1,596.81,
- Approved Horton’s request to repair industrial park fire tank pumps (packing set- rings, gasket, gland bolts, and washers) for $4,519.55, and
- Approved Lee’s request to allow Moody Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Andrea Machen to attend the Innovative Commerce Serving Communities (ICSC) Conference in Las Vegas in May at a cost not to exceed $3,500.
Meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at Moody City Hall on 670 Park Ave.
