TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Board of Education last week recognized 10 employees who have retired from the system.
The retirees honored by the board were Marilyn Eddins, Charla Carden, Kathy Coyne, Mary Alice Major, Beth Bishop, Shirley Parsons, Karen Hutchinson, Bill Hamilton, Jan Sterling and Glenn Rotenberry.
Eddins was the graduation coach who spent all 34 years of her career in Trussville.
Carden and Coyne were fourth-grade teachers at Paine Intermediate School.
Major was an environmental science and biology teacher at Hewitt-Trussville High School.
Bishop taught English and French at Hewitt-Trussville High School since 1991.
Parsons, who spent 26 years as a teacher in Trussville, was an exceptional education teacher at Paine Intermediate School.
Hutchinson was a secretary for the Technology Department at Trussville City Schools.
Hamilton was the director of student services, and he previously was a principal in the system.
Sterling was a math teacher at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School.
Trussville City Schools Superintendent Pattie Neill thanked the 10 retirees for their “service and dedication to the students of Trussville.”
“It’s a bittersweet moment,” Neill said.
