CULLMAN COUNTY — Law enforcement continues to search and recover a 60-year-old man who drowned on Smith Lake on Monday, May 30, at approximately 1:40 p.m.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Frankie D. Cruce drowned as he attempted to retrieve a canopy that fell from his boat; the incident occurred on Smith Lake near Miller’s Flats.
The ALEA Marine Patrol Division continues to assist Daphne Search and Rescue, Logan Fire and Rescue, and Cullman County Fire and Rescue in the search and recovery effort.
Due to search and rescue crews using side-scan sonar equipment, they ask that all boaters avoid the area until further notice.
