BIRMINGHAM – According to ABC 33/40 the missing Dreamcake food truck was found after a social media plea on Sunday with a dead body inside.
The deceased has been identified as Shane Landrip Caldwell, 40, an employee of the bakery, according to the television station.
On Sunday, the Homewood bakery issued a plea on social media with a photo of the truck, asking people to help it locate the vehicle and notify Homewood police. The truck had last been seen Saturday in the Hoover-Bessemer area. Later in the day, Dreamcakes tweeted that the truck had been located.
ABC 33/40 reported that two people on their way home from a Birmingham Barons game saw the truck and alerted the business and police.
Owner Jan Moon issued a statement on Facebook that read, “We at Dreamcakes are so sad at the loss of our cupcake truck driver Shane Caldwell. He was a kind and generous person who often did things beyond the call of duty. We express our sympathies to Shane Caldwell’s family and friends. Our prayers are with them now.”
According to the statement, Birmingham police do not believe foul play was involved.
The truck has recently been parked just outside the Trussville city limits.
