BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) is investigating a shooting that claimed a man’s life on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at approximately 12:46 a.m.
“The preliminary investigation suggests the adult male told people at Chevron that he had been shot, and those people called 911,” Sergeant Monica Law stated.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported the adult male to UAB hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
“The homeowner in the 5300 block of Avenue O reported they believed they shot an intruder who broke into their home,” Law stated.
Law stated that due to the proximity of the home invasion and where the adult male sought refuge, BPD believe’s the shooting is connected.
“The homeowner cooperated with investigators,” Law stated. “Investigators will present their findings to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.”
