CLAY — Papa Sal’s Italian Restaurant in Clay is one step closer to claiming the title of Alabama best steak after dispatching PJ’s Restaurant of Jasper in the round of 16. The title is currently held by the Bright Star in Bessemer, the 2013 winner.
The Clay restaurant will face Wallace’s Restaurant in Jasper in the round of the Enticing 8 of the Alabama’s Best Steak competition, the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association announced Monday.
According to the association’s website, competing restaurants must be located in Alabama and must serve ribeye steaks. Only ribeye steaks will be judged to determine the winner and the contest is designed for restaurants only. Customers can vote online and see all of the eight finalists at www.alabamasbeststeak.com. The final four contenders will be judged on site by a team of anonymous judges.
The four finalists will be announced Aug. 18.
