OAKVILLE – The Hewitt- Trussville girls cross country team finished second at the AHSAA XC Championship Saturday.
Auburn High School took the 7A crown.
The runner-up finish is the highest finish for the girls team in the history of the program.
The Hewitt boys team finished fourth.
“We had a plan for each team coming in and both our guys and girls executed perfectly,” said Husky head coach Matthew Michalke.
“ The girls have continued to improve all season, with Avery and Kinley leading the way, and it all came together today.”
Cahoon and Harris made the All-State team.
“Our senior girls have been a part of two teams that came up just short, so extra sweet to send them out with a red map,” he said.
Shades Valley and Springville also had runners to compete in the championship meet.
