SHELBY COUNTY — A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, has caused road blockage, according to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. This is near the 228 exit for Calera/ Alabama Hwy 25 exit.
“The northbound lanes on Interstate 65 near the 228 mile marker, in Shelby County are currently closed and will be for an undetermined amount of time,” Bailey said. “The traffic is being detoured to Exit 228.”
The Calera Police department reported earlier that a four vehicle accident with injuries occurred on I-65 North at exit 228. Both northbound lanes are temporarily closed while the injured are treated and the vehicles removed.
Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly.
