PINSON –Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at the Center Point fire station on Chalkville Road at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday that a man had been shot. Paramedics reported that a man had driven himself to the station after being shot near Pinson.
“Before deputies arrived at the fire station, the victim was transported to UAB hospital with serious injuries,” Chief deputy Randy Christian said. “Initial information is that he and his wife had struggled over a gun at their home in the 6500 block of Davidson Road near Pinson.”
According to a report from Christian, a shot was allegedly fired that struck the man in the chest. His wife is cooperating with the investigation, officials said.
Christian said the man is currently in surgery and his condition is not known at this time. The names of the victim and his wife have not been released.
