MONTGOMERY — Caleb Moore, the 24-year-old son of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, was charged with drug possession after officers found four Xanax tablets sitting on top of his wallet, The Montgomery Advertiser reported Monday.
According to the newspaper, the incident took place in Troy on Sunday when police were responding to a report of an attempted break-in.
When officers arrived, they found Moore and several other men at the scene. One officer reported the strong odor of marijuana, which led to the search of the vehicle and the discovery of the pills and a bag of marijuana, according to the story.
Moore was charged with a Class A misdemeanor for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, which is a Class C felony.
He was taken into custody without incident and was released after posting bond Sunday. A hearing has been set for April 7.
