CENTER POINT — Three people have died in an Sunday fire at a Center Point residence and four have been transported to area hospitals with injuries, FOX 6 reported.
Center Point fire chief Donnie West told the television station that seven people were in the split-level home on the 200 block of Jupiter Drive where two died at the scene and four people were transported to area hospitals.
Two of those transported are in critical condition, West told FOX 6. One of those has since passed at UAB Hospital.
The victims’ injuries were sustained from the fire and from jumping from a second-story window. West said three victims were transported to UAB while one victim was sent to St. Vincent’s East.
The fire reportedly went up from the interior of the house around 6:45 a.m. on Sunday. At least seven people were in the house at the time of the eruption, but their connection is currently unknown.
ATF is investigating the cause of the fire. Christopher Bryan Barnett Jr., 22, and and 21-year-old Swan Simone DeWitt were both pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday. Two days later, 30-year-old Jerry Randall Taylor was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital.
