BIRMINGHAM – Birmingham Police Department Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after an incident that occurred Monday.
The incident happened in the 3900 block of Richard Arrington Boulevard at the East Birmingham Lounge.
Around 4 a.m., officers responded to calls of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers found two victims had been shot at the location, one of which was transported to UAB Hospital and the second that went to the fire station before being transported to UAB Hospital.
One victim died from his injuries, and the name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Preliminary investigations indicate the victim got into an altercation with someone inside the club. A witness said there was a private party being held when the shooting happened inside the club, and then ended outside the club.
At this time it appears more than one shooter was responsible, as there were three dozen shell casings found inside and outside the club.
At this time, no suspects have been identified.
