It was certainly anti-climactic when the official announcement came on ESPN’s BCS Selection Show, but official it is. Alabama will pursue it’s third national championship in four years must face #1 Notre Dame to claim the prize.
This was the announcement on the Bowl Championship Series website.
“I’m excited to announce that the Discover BCS National Championship will match up No. 1 Notre Dame and No
. 2 Alabama on January 7,” said Bill Hancock, Executive Director of the Bowl Championship Series. “These two storied programs, this year’s undisputed top two teams, will square off in a must-see event. We also have an intriguing and exciting full slate of BCS games, plus a tremendous lineup of other bowls to once again cap off the best regular season in sports.”

Kansas State versus Oregon
The Crimson Tide defeated SEC East champion Georgia 32-28 in a thriller game Saturday night to earn the trip to Miami. Today’s BCS poll had the Bulldogs ranked 7th, while Alabama maintained their second place position.
