Jefferson County deputies are on the scene at the Chevron in Clay on Old Springville Road and Dug Hollow Road
.
Officers raided the business this morning following a three month investigation into drug activity at the convenience store after local residents reported drug sales taking place at the business.
The property has been cordoned off with yellow crime tape as investigators are working the scene. Sheriff Mike Hale and Sergeant Jack Self were both on the scene.
“We executed a narcotics search warrant,” Self told The Tribune. “We have been conducting the investigation following anonymous complaints from the public.”
The same business was raided last year resulting in a drug arrest at that time of the brother of the suspect arrested today.
Clare Huddleston of FOX 6 News reported that an employee, Hien Thi Huynh, is a suspect in the case. A document posted by Huddleston on Twitter list Theresa as an alias used by Huynh.
“Huynh was charged with three counts of distributing a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance,” Self said. “Her brother was arrested on similar charges at the same location last year. Their father owns the business and we have no reason to believe that he knew what was going on. We don’t anticipate any other arrests. Huynh is being held on a $95,000 bond.”
Commenting on the story via Facebook, Clay city councilman Kevin Small said, “Lets not pretend this is not an issue (that) Trussville, Hoover, and Mountain Brook don’t deal with as well. Rich white kids are doing drugs as much as anyone anymore.”
