TRUSSVILLE –Trussville’s annual Christmas parade presented by Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce will take place on Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. through historic downtown Trussville.
Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated floats. First, second and third place entries will receive $100, $75, and $50, respectively, and will be recognized at
the Chamber’s December luncheon.
Santa will be a much-anticipated personality at the end of the parade; entries are not allowed to include Santa on the floats.
The day’s festivities will conclude with the City’s annual Christmas tree lighting at West Mall immediately following the parade. Hot chocolate will be provided and parade-goers will enjoy live entertainment.
The Chamber will also present its annual Miss/Master Merry Christmas Photogenic Contest. Those wishing to enter should submit a photo of their child with the child’s name, address, telephone number and age as of Dec. 1 on the back of the photo. Winners will be notified by Dec. 2 if they won their age category, and will ride in the parade. Winners must provide their own transportation and car decoration.
Winners and alternates will be selected by age groups ranging from newborn to age 18. Registration is $20, and the deadline is Dec. 1 at noon.
Parade lineup begins at 1 p.m., so parts of Parkway Drive, Cherokee Drive and the Trussville Sports Complex will be closed for the duration of the parade. The parade begins on Parkway Drive in front of the tennis couts, and will continue down Parkway Drive to Highway 11 , then it will turn right again on Chalkville Road. The parade will end just past West Mall on Oak Street.
