BLOUNT COUNTY — A single-vehicle crash at 3:30 a.m. Saturday claimed two lives.
Donald Lee Turner, 22, of Warrior, was killed when the 1994 Honda Civic he was driving left the roadway on Skyline Drive and overturned. Turner was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
Alyssa Victoria Carroll, 22, of Birmingham, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene as well.
A third occupant, Joseph Allen Buchanan, 23, of Mount Olive, was injured and transported to UAB Hospital. None of the occupants in the Honda Civic were wearing seat belts.
The crash occurred five miles north of Warrior. State Troopers continue to investigate.

We’re sorry you feel that we posted this information before families were notified, but we have to believe that to be an unfounded accusation as we posted the story nearly 7 hours after the accident and after state troopers notified all media outlets. The Troopers’ office never releases information before families are notified.

They did the same thing 12/6/2014 when my brother and sister in law were killed on 459 at 230am. They have 7 kids, only a few knew when it was announced here. My mom didnt know either 🙁

And, YES the troopers will assume the family has been notified. In our case, only one of the 7 kids were told. The troopers called and personally apologized.
