From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE –Winter has just arrived and the first forecast with the s-word is here, as well.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham’s latest forecast for the week includes a 20 percent chance of snow flurries for Friday and Saturday.
Monday will be a relatively mild day with comfortable temps, but Tuesday will bring rain and cold weather. The colder weather will be with us for a while.
According to the NWS, flurries are possible after midnight on Friday, with rain and snow showers also possible on Saturday.
James Spann of Alabamawx says the potential is due to a clipper system that will move south.
“Traditionally there isn’t much moisture with clippers, and for now accumulating snow doesn’t look especially likely,” Spann said. “But, with heavier snow showers, especially up north over the Tennessee Valley, the ground could be white in spots in grassy areas and north facing locations. Needless to say, we will keep a close eye on the situation as we get closer to the weekend.”
