AUBURN –Media outlets in Auburn are reporting a shooting at the Village Mall. According to reports, police have descended on the mall as have emergency vehicles, including Life Flight helicopters.
The incident took place in the parking lot near the Belk department store. First responders are working on the victims.
Auburn Police Division said they have responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Auburn Mall.
Residents are asked to avoid the mall at this time, police said.
According to police, black male suspect in his 20’s with an average build wearing a white t-shirt and jeans with a stripe has been reported running southbound in the mall parking lot parallel to Opelika Road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was not random and may have involved the two individuals who were injured. A firearm was located near one of the injured individuals. The shooting occurred in the parking lot of Auburn Mall.
The investigation is ongoing. Auburn Police Division does not believe there is an active threat at this time.
