Five area football players have been invited to the Rivals Camp Series at Hoover High School on April 6.
Pinson Valley junior-to-be running back Nick Gibson has been invited to the camp, according to head coach Matt Glover. Gibson rushed 137 times for 938 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore. He caught 15 passes for 260 yards and three scores
. As a freshman, Gibson rushed 66 times for 581 yards and five touchdowns. Gibson has scholarship offers already from Mississippi State, Tennessee and Kentucky, Glover said.
Clay-Chalkville seniors-to-be quarterback Hayden Moore, running back Sidney Battle and defensive lineman Jalen Harvey, and junior-to-be running back Terrelle West, have also been invited.
Moore completed 123 of 211 passes last season for 1,909 yards. He threw 18 touchdowns to 11 interceptions, and rushed 143 times for 681 yards and 11 scores. Battle rushed 103 times for 706 yards and eight touchdowns in 11 games in 2012. Battle has an offer from Arkansas State.
Harvey totaled 27 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in 2012.
West led Clay-Chalkville in rushing as a sophomore, carrying 102 times for 903 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also had two touchdown receptions.
Hewitt-Trussville head coach Hal Riddle said no Hewitt-Trussville players have been invited, as far as he knows.
