TRUSSVILLE –UPDATED with new weather graphics at 1:40 p.m.
A line of severe thunderstorms which have produced tornado warnings in Mississippi are moving into Alabama. Heavy rains are directly behind the storm line.
Jefferson and Blount counties, along with much of west-central Alabama, are under a tornado and flood watch. The tornado watch is efective until 7 p.m. on Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, these storms are producing high winds and possible tornadoes.
“Tornado warning just to our west in Lowndes Co Mississippi,” the NWS said via social media. “This is spinning up along a bowing line of storms, and we’ll likely see more of these throughout the day today.”
