The Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama Board of Directors this morning approved an amendment to its three-phase property plan, which will rest Camp Coleman in Trussville and Camp Trico in Guntersville.
The three-phase property plan was amended as follows:
“Camp Coleman and Camp Trico will not be ‘closed effective May 31, 2013’ as originally approved by the Board, but shall instead be ‘rested’ effective May 31, 2013. Further, it is resolved that Camp Coleman and Camp Trico shall remain ‘rested’ pending further evaluation and vote of this Board.”
“The camp will not be ‘closed’ indefinitely at this time to ensure its historical ranking is not impacted as the oldest operating camp,” said Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama Community Partnership Chief Russell Jackson. “This provides the necessary time for our board of directors to continue their work in reviewing the property plan.”
Jackson said his understanding is that no GSNCA-organized activities will occur because programs and necessary staff were not budgeted for.
“Obviously this will be subject to change once the board makes their collective decision on the property plan,” Jackson said in an email.
The next board meeting is scheduled for June 12.
