MONTGOMERY – Court documents filed on Wednesday indicate that Ed Henry, a former Republican representative from Hartsville, plans to plead guilty to charges in a federal investigation, according to the Montgomery Advertiser.
The Montgomery Advertiser reported that Henry is facing 14 charges that are related to a business deal between a chronic care management company he started and Dr. Gilberto Sanchez’ Family Practice clinic.
Investigators alleged that the clinic is a “pill mill” and that there was a conspiracy between employees and doctors to over prescribe medications and overbill insurance companies.
The charges Henry faces include 14 counts of conspiring to pay kickbacks, paying unlawful kickbacks, conspiring to commit health care fraud, health care fraud and conspiring to commit money laundering with the Atlanta Highway Family Practice clinic, according to the Montgomery Advertiser.
