Clay-Chalkville varsity girls basketball coach Todd Carlile has resigned from the position to take a physical education position at Paine Intermediate School in Trussville.
Carlile was approved as a physical education teacher at Monday’s Trussville City Board of Education meeting. Clay-Chalkville High School Principal Michael Lee confirmed Carlile’s resignation Tuesday.
Lee said Carlile “has done a tremendous job” at Clay-Chalkville.
Carlile spent 13 years at Clay-Chalkville, serving the last three as the varsity girls basketball coach. He was the varsity boys basketball coach three years and served as an assistant for former girls coach Mike Chase. He then took over the girls’ team when Chase left for Spain Park.
Lee said Clay-Chalkville has begun searching for the next varsity girls basketball coach, saying that Carlile left the program “in great shape.”
Clay-Chalkville posted a 25-5 record last season.
