A Hewitt-Trussville girls’ golfer tied for second in the Birmingham Junior Open earlier this month at Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta.
Hannah McCracken shot a two-round total of 163, tying her for second with Clanton’s Madison Sanders and Oneonta’s Kara Lankford. Anna Fassnacht, of Killen, won the 15-18 age division by one stroke over McCracken, Sanders and Lankford.
The course played at 5,857 yards for the girls.
The tournament was the first of the season for the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, which was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11 and 18 an opportunity to play golf in a competitive environment.
McCracken, a rising senior, tied for ninth individually at the Class 6A state championships at The Shoals earlier this year, posting scores of 78 and 83. The Hewitt-Trussville varsity girls’ golf team finished sixth in the state tournament.
