TUSCALOSA — Down by six runs in the fifth inning, Hewitt-Trussville fought back hard to make up ground, but in the end, fell just a little short. Thompson took the victory defeating the Huskies 7-5 Thursday morning.
Crystal Maze had a home run in the sixth, a sacrifice fly by Riley Tyree in the sixth gave the Huskies another run in the sixth, while another run was secured by a double from Kenleigh Cahalan in the seventh.
Madison Holtzapfel had the win for Thompson. She allowed zero hits and one run over five innings. She struck out one. Two innings in relief were pitched by Eleanor DeBlock for Thompson.
Kaitlyn Hughes had the loss for the Huskies. She pitched five and a third innings for Hewitt-Trussville. She gave up seven runs on 10 hits.
Abigail Dorsett, Cahalan, and Maze all contributed hits to the Huskies.
Thompson had four errors for the game.
Hewitt-Trussville had one error for the game.
