A Pinson woman competed in the 2013 Ms. Senior America Pageant in Atlantic City, N.J., on Thursday.
Donna Shaw McGuffie, 62, represented the state of Alabama in the 34-woman pageant, a result of winning the Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant in August. She had entered that pageant, held at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, as Ms. Senior Heart of Dixie.
Ms. Senior Tennessee Carolyn Corlew was crowned the winner of the Ms. Senior America Pageant, which featured women walking the stage in evening gowns, stating their philosophies on life and performing talents.
McGuffie is a vocalist and sang “Hurt” by Timi Yuro at the state competition. McGuffie and her husband, Ron, have four children and seven grandchildren. McGuffie has volunteered with the American Red Cross, The Care Group, United Way and has been involved in other community service organizations. She is a trained aesthetician and has also been in marketing and sales.
Morris resident Heidi Manley won the 11-woman Ms. Senior Trussville Pageant and was also named Ms. Congeniality in June.
