BIRMINGHAM — The Clay, Alabama, man involved in a crash that sent eight people to the hospital on Nov. 2 has been charged with multiple counts of assault.
William Eric Nail, 35, is charged with one count of first-degree assault, seven counts of second-degree assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance, along with driving under the influence. Nail remains at the Jefferson County Jail with bonds of $145,300.
The incident in question occurred around 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Pinson Valley Parkway and Westchester Drive. The three-vehicle crash sent eight people from other vehicles to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Nail’s blood work showed that he was under the influence of a drug containing heroin.
