Former Clay-Chalkville wide receiver Justin Burdette is now at the University of Central Arkansas.
Burdette spent his college freshman season as a walk-on at Southern Mississippi
. The 6-foot-2, 202-pound Burdette played in eight games at Southern Miss, totaling eight receptions for 70 yards. He also had four tackles and two forced fumbles.
Burdette is now a scholarship player at Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark.
“He is a young man we had in camp two summers ago and were very impressed,” said Central Arkansas head coach Clint Conque. “He’s joining our program after making contributions in Conference USA at Southern Miss. He’ll come in here with the opportunity to help us replace three highly productive senior receivers lost to graduation. Justin comes in and gives us size and experience that we’ll need.”
At Clay-Chalkville, Burdette was an All-State, All-Metro and All-Conference selection who caught 30 passes for 430 yards and five touchdowns in 2011. He also played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.
Central Arkansas finished 9-3 last season and tied for the Southland Conference championship. UCA reached the second round of the NCAA Division I Playoffs for the second consecutive year.
