TRUSSVILLE — Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate Drew Lolley is living proof that no one is too young to go far in life. At the age of 28, Lolley was recently promoted as the general manager of Courtesy Buick in Trussville.
“It’s not your age, it’s how you handle things in certain situations. Once you interact with people, you can earn their respect just by knowing how to treat people. It’ all about how you treat employees, and customers and everybody around you,” Lolley said.
Lolley began working at Courtesy Buick in 2011, where he proved himself to be very successful on the sales floor. Two years later, he was promoted as the New Car Sales Manager.
“I’ve got my hands in more than just working with customers. I have to work with my managers, and do everything I can to help them out with their departments every single day. I do all the inventory and ordering the vehicles,” Lolley said.
Lolley is no stranger to the car business. According to Lolley, his father’s experience in the car business played a big role in his decision to pursue his career.
“I’ve been around the business for a long time. I knew that if I was successful at this, I could make a career out of it,” Lolley said. “When I was 5-years-old, I was hearing about the car business at the dinner table. Seeing my father throughout the years, and seeing the way he’s treated people and customers, is something that definitely had an impact on me while growing up.”
He also credits his success to Wayne Gargus, the original dealer, who founded Courtesy Buick in the mid-90’s and passed away in 2014.
“Watching the way he interacted with customers around here showed all of us how to do it,” Lolley said.
Lolley is currently working on increasing Courtesy Buick’s online presence through advertising and getting the business more involved in the community. He also plans to hold an event for HTHS students, who will be able to test-drive several different cars. For every student test drive, Courtesy Buick plans on donating $10 to a local high school.
“I grew up here, and I care about the residents of Trussville. I’m going to embrace this opportunity to try to push our business as far as I can by engaging in the community and helping the people who buy our vehicles. I want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to provide the best service we can to the people of Trussville,” said Lolley. “It’s so neat to have this opportunity in my hometown. It’s something that I’ve worked extremely hard for, and I’m going to do everything I can to make the most of it.”
